With an introduction by William Rees, who pioneered the study of our ‘ecological footprint’, the issue includes articles on how cities grow, the path to healthy cities, Brazil’s urban laboratory in Curitiba, transforming slums in Bangkok, building green islands in Bombay [Mumbai], and the city farmers of Africa.
