Sex, Sin and Survival

Posted: 29 August 2000

Now available to non-governmental organisations and television stations worldwide is the one-hour population film previously listed as Conspiracy of Silence and now re-titled Sex, Sin and Survival.

Produced by North South Productions for the British Channel Four TV station and broadcasters in Scandinavia, this state of the art documentary features a worldwide exploration of the issues by British environmentalist Jonathan Porritt.

Porritt visits various successful population programmes and examines the role of churches, women's groups and governments, to ask the question why the pent-up demand for family planning services is still not being met.

This is an outspoken, but well balanced, review of a complex subject, told with moving interviews of women in the front line of the reproductive revolution. It has been produced in association with UNFPA, IPPF and Population Concern.
