Forest certification

Posted: 12 August 2000

A means to assure consumers that wood products originate from sustainably managed forests. The certfication process involves the evaluation of a landowner's forestry practices by an independent third party according to strict environmental and socio-economic standards. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has received broad support from environmental organisations for the certification standards they have developed. Wood products meeting these criteria bear the FSC-certified logo.
